Dear GBMHA Families,
I am thrilled to share the excitement surrounding the creation of Georgian Bay Minor Hockey Association (GBMHA)! This reorganization marks a new chapter for hockey in our region, bringing together the communities of Tay, Tiny, Penetanguishene, Midland, and Beausoleil First Nation to build a strong and united association. Together, with MMHA and PMHA, we are creating a hockey experience at both the Representative and Recreational levels that is rooted in excellence, fairness, and community pride — one that will focus on player development, memorable hockey experiences, and foster a lifelong love of the game.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent survey. Your feedback has been invaluable, and it’s clear that many of you share our excitement for the changes to our Representative hockey as well as the increased collaboration between MMHA and PMHA. Your input is helping shape the future of GBMHA, and we are grateful for your ideas and enthusiasm.
We also recognize the concerns raised about fairness in player and coach selection processes. Please rest assured that we are working diligently to establish policies that are fair, transparent, and focused on equality. Our goal is to create an environment where every player has the opportunity to succeed and grow.
Additionally, we have heard your concerns regarding local league hockey and will ensure that our local league associations continue to excel, improve, and move forward. We are committed to working together to create a seamless and enjoyable experience for all our players, regardless of calibre.
In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more updates, including a call for coaching applications and further details on our plans. But first, we need your help with something exciting – choosing a new name and colors for GBMHA!
