Player Evaluations for the Upcoming Season
Get ready for the Player Evaluations that will help determine team placements for the upcoming season. Evaluations are an important part of the selection process and are designed to give players an opportunity to showcase their skills. Here's everything you need to know:
Fees:
- "A" and "B" Evaluations: $100 + $15 jersey fee
- "B" Only Evaluations: $75 + $15 jersey fee
- "MD" Only Evaluations: $100 + $15 jersey fee
Jerseys:
- At registration, players will be asked to purchase an evaluation jersey for $15
- The jersey will be sized to the player and will have an assigned number to identify them during the evaluation sessions
- The player will keep the jersey for the entirety of the evaluation process and keep it afterwards
- Jerseys are specific to the player and cannot be reused by family members or given to other participants
Structure:
- Players starting at "A": Guaranteed 1 "A" evaluation and 2 "B" evaluations
- Players starting at "B": Guaranteed 2 "B" evaluations
- Players starting at "MD": Guaranteed 3 "MD" evaluations
- "A" teams will have 4 evaluations (exhibition/intersquad games TBD)
- "B" teams will have 3 evaluations (exhibition/intersquad game TBD)
- "MD" teams will have 4 evaluations (exhibition/intersquad game TBD)
Team Rosters:
- "A" teams will be targeting a roster of 15 players (9 forwards and 6 defence) and 2 goalies. Any deviations from this roster size will be made at the discretion of the board, based on registration numbers. Older age groups may carry an additional forward or defence at the coach's discretion.
- "B" teams will be targeting a similar-sized roster as "A" teams. Any deviations from this roster size will be made at the discretion of the board.
- "MD" teams will be targeting a roster of 15 players and 2 goalies. Any deviations from this roster size will be made at the discrtion of the board, based on registration numbers.
Important Information:
- Players may start their evaluation process at either the "A" or "B" classifications. Players wishing to play "B" are not required to attend "A" evaluations.
- Non-Local players are invited to attend player evaluations. GBMHA does not have a limit on the number of players allowed on each team. However, GBMHA may add a non-local player limit to individual age groups to ensure that our local players have a spot to play in representative or local league with GBMHA, MMHA or PMHA. This will be discussed after registration is closed, based on projections for the coming season.
- Evaluation fees are due at the time of registration. Refunds will only be granted if a written request is received at least 24 hours prior to the first session. Jersey fees are non-refundable.
- B teams will only be run if:
(a) qualified bench staff and a head coach are available
(b) there is adequate interest from capable players.
- At U15 and U18, the B teams will play contact. If there is not enough interest in playing contact at the B level, the option exists to create a BB non-contact team instead. There is also an option for a U16 BB team. This will be determined following the "A" tryouts based on the remaining players, their interest, and available and interested coaches.
